Why choose the functional approach?

I am a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach certified through the Functional Medicine Coaching Academy.

The conventional medical system has grown so dependent on pharma and prescribing away every symptom, that we have forgotten that we have the power within us to restore our health: by addressing and resolving the etiology of illness.. Functional medicine is an individualized, patient-centered, and science-based approach to healthcare. It looks beyond attaching a diagnosis to symptoms and instead wants to know why illness occurs to ultimately restore health. The difference between conventional (allopathic) and functional medicine is that conventional medicine focuses on using medication to reduce symptoms, while functional medicine empowers patients and practitioners to work together to solve the complex underlying causes of disease - ultimately promoting optimal wellness through diet and lifestyle change. It is such a wonderful coupling with homeopathy and German New Medicine. Functional practitioners recognize that every human is unique, no two are alike, just as no two diagnoses are alike (in GNM, we refer to these as “bucket diagnoses”).

As a Functional Medicine Certified Health Coach (FMCHC), I have a solid understanding of the foundations of Functional Medicine. I am trained to utilize many of the IFM (Institute for Functional Medicine) resources. This background and training empowers me to support clients to implement healthy changes into their lifestyle. A health coach moves beyond the diagnosis-prescription model to co-create and execute a plan with the client that inspires him or her to a path of better health. Additionally, under the delegation of a treating practitioner, I may be able to provide further assistance related to labs and . As an FMCHC, I do not assess, prescribe, diagnose, treat, or interpret results.
